SECTION DETAILS


In 2019, Garrett Hazen and I teamed up to form a unique band: Garrett served as the musical artist, while I took on the role of the visual artist. Our collaboration was dynamic; Garrett provided input on my artwork, and I contributed lyric ideas for his music—it was a radical partnership reminiscent of Gorillaz with Albarn and Hewlett. Our synergy reached new heights when Ryan Calaunan joined the band.

Over the next three years, I had the opportunity to create and ideate some of my favorite work. We had ambitious plans, including music releases, live shows, TV episodes, a clothing brand, and, of course, plenty of music. All of this lived on a fictional island, allowing us to build a world around the band.

After releasing several songs, we decided to take a break from the project to focus on our personal lives. Nonetheless, we still have 25-30 songs in the pipeline... perhaps fake Parents will make a return stronger than ever.
  


BAND BRANDING

This is just a glimpse of the branding work I did for fake Parents, showcasing some logos and symbols. Initially the band was named "Parents," but we had to change it due to another band with the same name, hence the addition of "fake." Therefore, when branding the logo, I intentionally kept the "f" lowercase. This serves two purposes: first, to honor the original name, and second, as a branding mnemonic device. The power of the branding lies in its simplicity.

Finally, I added a series of symbols that could build the world of fake Parents. Each one symbolized a different aspect of the band and the world it lived in.ROLE
